Meet The Farmers

At McCain, we work with over 300 British farmers and use only the very best of British potatoes for our chips. It’s always been that way, and always will be.

Our story begins in the late 1960s, in the heart of prime Yorkshire potato growing country. Jimmy Stockdale was right there with us at the start, after following his father and uncle into farming more than fifty years ago. Based just down the road from our head offices in Scarborough, we’re still serving up his great potatoes today. As Jimmy has seen first-hand, however, the way that we grow, harvest and store our potatoes has certainly evolved.

For us, the quality of our potatoes has always been a priority. We’re the biggest purchaser of potatoes in the UK, and a committed member of the Red Tractor Assurance Scheme, working closely with farming partners like Jimmy to ensure the highest standards of flavour, from field to fork.

Meet our farming partners below, and find out more about their work planting, growing, and harvesting the potatoes that help us make our delicious British chips.
