Our aim is to enable caterers to continue to meet their operational and customer needs while responding positively to consumer trends for natural ingredients and meeting the challenges of legislation and guidelines. We are committed to manufacturing all McCain products with raw materials, additives and ingredients which are non-GM and which are derived from a non-GM source.

Our approach is all about producing good, convenient, enjoyable food, using selected natural ingredients.

When we say it's all good, we mean it, and together with our customers, we will continue to grow by helping people to maintain a well-balanced diet that fits in with busy lifestyles - while still delivering the enjoyment they want.

Since March 2007, all our potato products have been prepared in sunflower oil. As the market leaders we have invested in this healthier oil, as the right thing to do, reducing saturated fat by 70%.

We use simple methods to minimise the impact on the produce as it moves through the process. Potatoes are steam peeled, product travels around the plant by a system of water channels and to preserve what we make, we simply freeze it.

Within our factories we are also looking at ways to reduce the impact on the environment. The Whittlesey factory has become one of the first food manufacturing plants to use wind turbines. We have also made further substantial investment at our Whittlesey site in an anaerobic lagoon. This digests waste water, creating gas which can be stored and used to produce electricity though a gas burning boiler.

When fully operational, from spring 2008, the combined energy from the lagoon and wind turbines will generate 70% of the plant's electrical needs. All of which contributes to a more secure future for our business, the industry and the environment as a whole.
