Jordan Crouch, Team Leader for Uni Central in Sheffield University Student Union, has been working with McCain to understand how switching chips can help them to stand out, attract new customers and improve customer spend and satisfaction.
Chips are a key menu item, but the skinny fries they were using didn’t hold well, leading to waste and making it difficult to meet customers’ expectations. With nine other food outlets in the union alone, as well as the high street to compete with, this meant they struggled to stand out and keep students coming back.
Working closely with McCain, Jordan looked at how the whole operation could be improved. This included a sampling session of McCain products to collect feedback, create a buzz to attract new customers and encourage repeat custom.
The sampling confirmed what students really wanted from Uni Central, with suggestions including improving the quality of the chips. Jordan took the feedback on board, and having introduced Menu Signatures Staycrisp Thin Fries and Southern Fried Wedges, she can be confident that chips are consistently hot and tasty and waste has been minimised. Jordan is now considering other ways to add profit and improve customer satisfaction, such as chip toppings.
