McCain and Staycrisp at the Casual Dining Show 2017

As the only trade event dedicated to the sector, each year the Casual Dining Show provides a valuable insight into the trends and products set to make an impact in this ever growing area.

At this year’s show, we helped operators to stay hot and ahead of the competition with our new Menu Signatures Staycrisp Thin Cut Skin-on and Skin-on fries; the hottest, crispiest fries in foodservice. Made using our unique Staycrisp recipe and the very best of the British potato crop, Staycrisp Fries are fresh tasting, hot, crispy and guarantee freshness even after holding.

To really put our Staycrisp fries through their paces, this year we brought along four of the hottest street food chefs in the country, who served up their own unique topped Staycrisp fries from the McCain stand.

On the 22nd our guest chefs were Caribbean Cuisine experts Mama’s Jerk, who gave attendees a taste of their Chilli Chicken Fries and Jerk Hot Pepper Pickle Fries (pictured below).  Later in the day we were joined by inventors of the “smashed burger “Slap & Pickle, who cooked up an Italian inspired take on Staycrisp with their “Truffle Shuffle Fries”.

It’s safe to say that Mama’s Jerk and Slap & Pickle’s takes on topped fries went down a treat, really showcasing the versatility and holding power of our Staycrisp fries. However the food didn’t end there, and on the second day of the event we brought along two new traders - Billy Frank’s Jerky and Cheeky Italian – to serve up even more twists on topped fries. Billy Frank’s cooked up their  “Mo Cheese Vicar” fries, a combo of spicy Nduja and nacho cheese, while Cheeky Italian offered up Italian Beef Poutine Fries, a Mediterranean-Canadian fusion (pictured below).

Alongside giving the show a taste of our Staycrisp products, McCain also attended the second annual Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub Awards, held on the evening of the 22rd February. The awards are a celebration of the stand out brands working in the casual dining sector, and over 400 professionals from across the industry were in attendance on the night.

McCain were delighted to sponsor the “Multiple Casual Dining Pub Brand of the Year” award, which amongst some tough competition was handed to London based public house operator The Draft House.

The event and the awards were a great summary of the current state of casual dining in 2017, allowing operators and industry professionals a platform to trade tips and showcase their expertise.
