McCain Foods, the UK’s favourite frozen chip manufacturer, is urging pubs and restaurants to get behind National Chip Week 2011 and celebrate the classic chip between 21-27 February.
Chips can be a great way to generate additional spend and National Chip Week is a fantastic opportunity to highlight chips on the menu. Great chips can make or break a meal so using quality chips, such as McCain Original Choice, that are a consistent size and shape, will achieve greater plate-fill and maximise profit opportunities.
Mike Driver, Head of Marketing at McCain Foods, explains: “Even if an outlet doesn’t serve food as standard, a bowl of quality, great-tasting chips is an easy addition to the menu.
“McCain use fully traceable specially selected British potatoes to provide longer chips which fill the plate more effectively. This means you can get more servings per bag and reduce cost per portion. Using frozen potato products also helps to avoid wastage, and therefore lost profits, which can be hard to control when using fresh potatoes in large volumes.
“Caterers can also maximise the opportunity by running promotions or other simple mechanics. If they’re short on ideas, McCain Foods has a range of reps that are happy to talk to caterers and share experience of other things that have worked well and what they might like to try. We’re always happy to talk.”
